I am something of a butterfly within my painting practice, moving between elements of Abstraction, Impressionism and Expressionism.

In this age of computer generated images, the sensuous process of applying buttery colour, the scratching, scraping, mark making and  painterly quality is an important element of my paintings and colour is the thread which runs through all.

More and more  I feel the lure of Abstraction, whereby the viewer is given space for imagination intuition and surprise inviting  both viewer and artist into an open ended dialogue rather than the expectation offered by Realism.

i now work from my home studio in Derby where visitors are welcome.
